I think It comes down to Bird/McHale & Magic/Kareem. In my opinion, Magic & Kareem had a little more help on those Lakers teams than Boston did, so I go with Bird and the greatest post up player in NBA history....McHale.
The Jordan combeck story was mostly rumor and wishfull thinking by fans.

"Absolutely not," she said Thursday of the 41-year-old legend making a third comeback. "No story there. Wishful thinking from fans must have gotten out of control."
Discussion of Jordan possibly joining the Heat to play alongside newly acquired center Shaquille O'Neal began Wednesday with a brief item in The Denver Post. It said that there was talk around the league that Jordan, attracted by the possibility of playing with O'Neal, was working out with a comeback in mind.
"He played basketball twice in some pickup games with some friends that included some current and former (NBA) players," Portnoy said.
Heat president Pat Riley said he hasn't spoken with Jordan and that neither he nor Jordan had made even a telephone call to one another regarding a comeback.
"It's typical of the NBA rumor, gobbledygook, media-spin thing," Riley said of the rumor. "That's all it is. It starts with somebody assuming something and then it goes to these writers on these radio shows now and it just continues to spiral until it becomes a fact. And it's not a fact.
"If Michael Jordan ever called me I would take his call out of absolute respect, but that hasn't happened."

Wil, I agree, back in the day they were may have been the best, even though thats a little before my time..........BUT....... I don't think they measure up to some of the duos of this era. Im a firm believer that NBA & NFL players of yester~year could not match up with todays. In baseball, maybe so, but not the two sports above..........wilheim said:
